Making Sure You Have the Right Vacation With a Trip to San Diego
With so many great things to do and see, San Diego travel expenses can get a little high. But that does not mean that a trip to San Diego has to drain your budget, particularly if you are flexible with where you go, when you go, and what you do. Having lived in San Diego since 2021, I have some tips on keeping your San Diego trip expenses low. Here are my top three suggestions.
While there are definitely some very expensive sights and attractions in San Diego, there are also some less expensive ones as well. For example, one thing we did in San Diego was to visit the Petco Park Zoo. Although there is a nominal entrance fee, we were able to walk down to the zoo free of charge because there are shuttle services that take you to all of the different attractions. The zoo has several exhibits, such as the famed Aquatica display, which offer live feedings of numerous species of marine animals, as well as other exhibits, interactive play areas, aquariums, and interactive shows.
If you want to spend more money, then you might consider visiting Sea World, the Wet and Wild Waterpark, or the smaller SDCC Amusement Park. All of these parks offer various things for just one day. If you want to spend one full day at one of the parks, then you will need to add up your itinerary suggestions for that day. You might want to visit the Giant Stadium to watch the football game, but if you want to see the whales or the dolphins, you need to add those activities to your itinerary as well. That being said, each one of these parks offer a great deal to just one day and some of them offer even more than that.
Another thing to consider when planning a trip to San Diego is the amount of surfing that is available in the area. While there are a few beaches on the east side of the city that boast top-notch surfing spots, there are also plenty of beaches along the west coast. For example, most of the surf schools are on the Pacific Coast and some of them even have classes available for beginners who would like to try out surfing. Therefore, if you are looking for a place to get some practice, you should look into booking a class at one of the San Diego beaches.
The Gaslamp Quarter is one of the most unique features of downtown San Diego. It is basically an open air marketplace that features over forty restaurants, pubs, lounges, souvenir shops, hotels, motels, and bars. Most of these are located in the Seaport Village, which is on the eastern part of the Gaslamp Quarter. One of the most popular attractions of the Gaslamp Quarter is the San Diego Zoo, which offers various types of exhibits, tours, and events throughout the year.
Overall, a trip to San Diego can include a little bit of everything. If you are looking for a great family beach vacation, then the Gaslamp Quarter is the perfect spot for you. However, if you are planning a little bit of fun in the outdoors, you will want to consider a little trip to the downtown area, which includes a day or two at the zoo, a little bit of surfing at the beach, and a day at one of the local beach hotels.
